Honey with Trikuta is a health food which contains Trikuta or Trikatu extract mixed in honey.

Trikatu is a Sanskrit word meaning “three spices”. It containing fruits of black pepper (Piper Nigrum), Indian long pepper (Piper Longum) and the rhizomes of ginger (Zingiber Officinalis). In Ayurveda, the ingredients of Trikatu are important components of numerous formulations used for a wide range of disorders. Trikuta or Trikatu is a common combination used to stimulate and maintain the digestive and respiratory systems. It removes cold, congestion, reviving weak organic functions. Also an aphrodisiac it strengthens reproductive functions. It is considered healthy for the lungs, in acidity and indigestion.

Honey is added to Trikuta as a medium of transfer. Honey acts as a sweetner thereby making trikuta more palatable. The viscid liquid is produced by bees from the nectar they collect from flowers a single tablespoon of honey requiring the nectar of some eighteen thousand flowers. The honey sugars break down into substances that inhibit the growth of bacteria, and the ancients used it to treat wounds, burns and skin problems. Besides sugars (about 75 per cent) and water, honey contains small amounts of calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, sodium, sulphur, phosphorus and protein. Traditionally, honey has been used as a ‘tonic’ or ‘pick-me-up’, and in the treatment of Anemia, Kidney complaints and circulation problems. Its soothing effects are well known.
